******************************************************************************************** Release Notes for Vigor2900 Series Firmware Version : v2.5.1 Release Date : January 08, 2004 Applied Models : Vigor2900, Vigor2900i, Vigor2900G, and Vigor2900Gi ******************************************************************************************** [Before You Upgrading] Vigor2900 Series is a new product family which includes Vigor2900, Vigor2900i, Vigor2900G, and Vigor2900Gi. Individual product in the family is a highly integrated broadband security router, combining high-speed routing technology with a comprehensive security suite of firewall, Virtual Private Network (VPN), URL filtering facilities, as well as bandwidth management capability(*), printer-server, and secure wireless access point. To compare with the existing broadband routers, for example, Vigor2300 and Vigor2104P, the new product family not only employs higher-performance components including ARM9 network processor and hardware accelerator for DES/3DES encryption to improve the router's performance, but also enhances the security capabilities including advanced URL filtering, stateful packet inspection facilities. It should be noticed that the Vigor2900G and Vigor2900Gi routers support IEEE 802.11g protocol with data rate of 54Mbps for wireless LAN. This release firmware does not allow to upgrade all previous series of broadband routers which includes Vigor2200E, Vigor2200, Vigor2200X, Vigor2200We, Vigor2200W, Vigor2200W plus, Vigor2300, and Vigor2104p. 2. You have to upgrade "*.RST" firmware file once you suffer from the booting problems after upgrading. To upgrade "*.RST" firmware file will erase the existing router's settings, and restore it to the factory default setting. Normally, you should upgrade your router by using "*.ALL" firmware file. However, whenever you upgrade your router with "*.ALL" firmware file several times but it is unsuccessful, we suggest that you had better to upgrade the "*.RST" firmware file into your router. 3. After upgrading successfully, you are able to make sure the upgraded firmware version listed on the top side of the Web user interface. 4. Do not attempt to restore old settings from a configuration backup file which is downloaded from the previous firmware version. 5. Patch the failure to configure a static route for a host route. 5. Patch the failure to configure the TCP/IP setting of LAN to LAN profile for the remote network. 6. Improve the Ugly WebUI running on MAC-OS.
